George Ernest Phillips, 86 years old, formally of Reisterstown, died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Morningside Assisted Living in Newport News, Va.
Born May 4, 1926 in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Arden Phillips and Flo Etta Smith Phillips.
He was the husband for 62 years of the late Agnes Geraldine "Jerri" Phillips who died in 2009.
He served honorably with the United States Navy in WWII. He was retired from Baltimore County Schools after 30 years as a school teacher and administrator. He worked as a coal miner, a local union president for 3 years, worked in real estate from 1974-2008 and had worked at Bethlehem Steel.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Sandra "Sandi" and Carl Reams of Newport News, his daughter-in-law Debbie Phillips of Finksburg, grandchildren, Heather Geiman and her husband John, Sarah Phillips, Kristen Freter and her husband Christopher and 3 great grandchildren Carter, Ryan and Tegan.
He was predeceased by his son, Dr. Phillip Phillips, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Friends may call on Wednesday, November 14, from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A. 11605 Reisterstown Rd. Owings Mills.
Funeral Services Thursday 10:30 AM at the Glyndon United Methodist Church, 4713 Butler Rd. 21071. Pastor Jeannie Marsh officiating.
Interment in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.
