George Elwood Rupp, 93, of Manchester, MD passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Longview Healthcare Center in Manchester. Born September 18, 1923 in Hampstead, Maryland. He was the son of the late Claude Elwood and Blanche Agnes McComas Rupp. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Danner Rupp, who passed away in September of 2016.
George was an Army Veteran serving in World War II. He was a foreman for Snyder's Body Shop in Hampstead. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, antique tools and engines. George was also a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Hampstead, the American Legion Post 200, and the Maryland Steam Historical Society.
Surviving him are his children: Cheryl Leppo and husband David of Glenville, PA, Beverly Rill and husband Jim of Hampstead, Kathy Williams of Manchester, and Karen Wilhelm and husband Mark of Millers, grandchildren: Greg and Dan Reed, John and Jason Dubs, Dave Leppo, Jr. and Beth Rabine, and 8 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 1, 2017, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10 am with Pastor Barbara Allen officiating. Interment is in Shiloh U.M. Church Cemetery, Hampstead, MD.
