Gladys Romaine Rhoten

Gladys Romaine Rhoten, 89, of Westminster, MD, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Autumn Lake Heathcare at Long View in Manchester, MD.  Born on October 6, 1935, in Carroll County, MD, she was the daughter of the late Joseph William Rill and Sarah Emma Krebs Rill.  She was the beloved wife of almost 50 years to the late Donald Vivian Rhoten, Sr., who passed away in 2001.

Gladys was a long-time member of St. Marks Lutheran Church of Snydersburg.  She loved dancing, listening to music—specifically country music—and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed tending to her house plants, gardening, and playing cards.  Gladys adored animals, especially cats and dogs. She had fond memories of spending time with her husband going to Spargo's and other local restaurants.

Surviving her are children: Linda Hagan and husband Glenn, Donald Rhoten, Jr. and wife Dawn, Robin Dicke and husband Frank, and grandchildren: April Vail and husband Tom, Casey Rhoten, and great-grandchildren: Thomas and Aidan Vail. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Gladys was predeceased by her siblings: Francis Rill and Virginia Reitz.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, June 24, from 10-11 am, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD, where a funeral service will be held 11 am.

Interment is private.
