Glendora Harman Engman age 88 of Hampstead, MD. died Wednesday Nov. 24, 2010 at the Lorien Nursing Home in Mt. Airy, MD.
Born June 1, 1922 in Davis, West Virginia she was the daughter of the late Ira Franklin and Zina Cooper Harman. She was the wife of the late Walton Ellsworth Engman who died in 1995.
She was a housewife. She was a 1939 graduate of Westminster High School. Prior to the birth of her first child she was a telephone operator for C & P Telephone Co. She also helped manage the family farm.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester, MD. She was also a member of the Joy Group of the WELCA and former Triple Valley Homemakers and the Eastern Star. She participated with the Project Linus and Community Bible Study. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.
She is survived by her daughters: Kay Ellen Engman of Takoma Park, Jan Noreen Engman of Hampstead, MD. and Marcena L. Walker of Spring Grove, PA. sister: Viva H. Grabill of Frederick, MD. grandchildren: Rachael and Micah of Spring Grove, PA. sister in law: Mary Ann Acierno of Ashtabula, Ohio. Also survived by 3 nieces, 5 nephews and numerous family and friends in West Virginia.
A funeral service will be held at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD. on Saturday at 11:00am. with the Revs. Matthew & Norma Schenning officiating. Interment will be in the New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, MD.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9pm. at the funeral chapel.
