Harry Edward King, 85, of Westminster died Friday, December 4, 2009 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born on September 2, 1924 in Westminster, he was the son of the late Alvah King and Elizabeth Richter King. He was the husband of Christine Dorothy Rill King, his wife of 64 years.
He was a Sergeant in the United States Army Air Force where he served in the Pacific Theater. After his discharge from the military he worked as an automotive technician for Gore Motor Co., Motor Service Center, and final going to work for the former Westminster Motors in 1952 until his retirement in 1989. During his time as an automotive technician he was awarded the Doctor of Motors from both Packard Motor Company in 1948 and General Motors in 1953. In addition, he was rated in the 90th percentile from Cadillac Technicians.
He was a member of the St. Mark's United Church of Christ in Snydersburg and the Westminster American Legion.
Surviving in addition to wife is his daughter Christine D. Entrekin of Sandymount; his grandsons Harry R. Entrekin of Taneytown and Robert G. Entrekin of Westminster; his great grandson Alexander C. Entrekin of Taneytown; his sister and brother Hilda King and Harvey King both of Taneytown; and also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester where a funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with his pastor the Rev. Gary A. Hawkins officiating.
Interment will be in the Snydersburg Church Cemetery, Snydersburg.
