Harvey Henry Nott Jr., 84, of Manchester, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at North Pines Assisted Living in Manchester.

Born July 10, 1924, in Alesia, he was the son of the late Harvey Henry Nott Sr. and Dora Blanche Hudson Nott. He was the husband of Arlene Myrtle Fair Nott, his wife of 61 years.

He was an Army veteran and a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Manchester, where he was on the church council and improvement committee. He was also a life member of Manchester volunteer fire company, where he was active and a longtime treasurer, a life member of the Carroll County Firemen's Association, the American Legion Post 200, Hampstead, the Westminster Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Hanover Moose.

He enjoyed working in his shop, fishing and bowling.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Sandra Bull, of Hanover, Pa., and Gregory B. Nott and wife Sue, of Manchester; grandchildren Stephanie, Ashley and Greta; a great-grandson, Ryan; and brothers Donald L. Nott Sr., of Manchester, and John Nott, of Georgia.

He was predeceased by sisters Leila Mills, Hilda Weaver, Anna Armacost and Bernice Garrett; and a brother, William Nott.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, where a fireman's service will be held at 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in New Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Manchester volunteer fire company, 3209 Main St., Manchester, MD 21102; or to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
