Helen LaRue Eppley, 82, of Manchester, died Monday, June 16, 2014, at Long View Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 21, 1931, in Hampstead, she was the daughter of the late John and Lulu Alban. She was the wife of Kenneth Eppley, who died in 2005.
She retired from Black and Decker in 1987. Shew as a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the North Carroll Senior Center, and the Manchester Ladies Auxiliary to the Manchester Fire Department, where she had served as chaplain.
Her hobbies included reading, traveling, bingo, and cooking and baking for her family and friends. She was a loyal Orioles and Ravens fan.
Surviving are children Judy Bixler, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Cindy Ganjon and husband Erich, of Westminster, Gary Eppley, of Manchester, and Randy Eppley and wife Karen, of Georgia, Vermont; grandchildren Bryan Bixler, Meghan Lee, Toby and Timothy David, Benjamin and Andrew Eppley, and Morgan and Christian Eppley; great-grandchildren Trent David, and Ava and Daphne Lee; sisters Dorothy Tawney, Betty Bannon, Peggy Stuffle and husband Louis, and Ruth Sterner; and brothers Thomas Alban and wife Mary, and Norman Alban and wife Dorothy.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy David; and a granddaughter, Anna Eppley.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with her pastors, the Rev. Matthew and Norma Schenning officiating. Interment will be in the New Lutheran Cemetery.
