Helen Oleta Martin, 85, of Upperco formerly of Reisterstown died Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster.

Born July 30, 1928 in Fairmont, WV, she was the daughter of the late Russell Clayton and Ruth Snowden Clayton. She was the wife of Robert Ross Martin, her husband of 34 years, who died in 1980.

She was a member of Reisterstown United Methodist Church. She was retired from Sweetheart Cup in Owings Mills where she was a cup packer. Later in life she lived with her sister for 30 years. Years ago, she had played the clarinet in the high school band.


Surviving are her children Robert Ross Martin, II and wife Gerri, and Linda Burford and husband Robert; her grandchildren Wendy Green and husband Chris, Christi Roark and husband Tony, David Burford and wife Marie, Todd Burford and significant other April, Tony Bubczyk and wife Angie, and Bryan Bubczyk and wife Brandi; her great grandchildren Courtney, Jack-Ryan, Skyler, Zachary, Bailey, Dillon, Austin, Morgan, Taylor, Tori, Andrea, Garrett, and Owen; her brother Russell Clayton and wife Ann; her cousin John Moore; her dearest friend Heather Jourdain; and Doris Martin; and her numerous nieces and nephews.


She was predeceased by her sisters Rowena Caverly and Ethel Mae McGinnis.

The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday with her pastor the Rev. Vivian C. McCarthy officiating.

Interment in Bel Air Memorial Gardens, Bel Air.
