Helen Ruth Miller, 85, of Manchester, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Longview Nursing Home in Manchester.
Born April 8, 1924, in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Raymond H. and Mary Ruth Buxton Miller. She was the wife of Malden Burnell Miller Sr., who died in 1988.
She had been a self-employed beautician and hair dresser for more than 27 years.
She had been an active member of Millers United Methodist Church, where she served as a teacher and treasurer of Sunday school and was a treasurer of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Manchester Volunteer fire company ladies auxiliary, where she had been a treasurer, secretary and historian.
She also cooked for the Manchester Lions Club and was a member of the AARP in Westminster. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting.
Surviving are children, Malden B. Miller Jr., of Hampstead and Mary Ellen Noel, of Hanover, Pa.; grandchildren Randy and Stacey Noel, of Hanover; great-grandchildren Brett and Brady Noel, of Hanover; a brother, Charles Miller, of Taneytown; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters Margaret and Mary E. Warehime, and Anna Miller; and brothers, James, John and Paul Miller.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.
A funeral service, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Jacob Young officiating. Interment will be in Millers United Methodist Church cemetery in Millers.
