Helen Louise Roman

Helen Louise Roman, 96, of Westminster, MD, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Best Care Assisted Living in Westminster, MD. Born on September 30, 1928, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late William and Johanna Sommer.  She was the beloved wife of Stefan John Roman, Sr., who passed away in 2005.

Helen was a talented artist and soprano singer. She loved the opera "Madama Butterfly." When she was younger, she received a scholarship to the Maryland Institute of Art.  She enjoyed drawing, gardening, and watching old movies. Helen was a very kind soul; she always expressed her care for others and would help anyone who needed it. Years ago, she was the sole caretaker for her mom and husband.  She loved spending time with her family, and she was considered a "Mom to many."

Surviving her are children: Joanna Smith of Abbottstown, PA, Charlotte Doy and husband Michael of Annapolis, MD, Stefan John Roman, Jr. and wife Marylin Merlot of Manchester, MD, grandchildren: Tori, Colleen and husband Jeff, Matthew, Casey, Sarah, Alex, Katie, and great-granddaughter: Claire Helen.

A private inurnment will take place in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD, at a later date.
