Henry T. Zigmont, age 89, died Sunday, March 26 at Long View Healthcare Center in Manchester, Maryland, from complications of Lewy Body disease. He was born November 25, 1927, in Scranton, Pennsylvania to the late George and Anna Menovich Zigmont.
A longtime resident of Seymour, Connecticut, Mr. Zigmont married Mary Iles on September 16, 1950, and they were together for more than 60 years until her death on December 21, 2010.
Mr. Zigmont is survived by his children, Beth Lincoln and her husband Timothy of Concord, Michigan, Amy Snurr and her husband Grayson of Westminster, Maryland, and James H. Zigmont and his wife Teresa Boutelle of Roslindale, Massachusetts. He leaves four grandchildren, Samuel Lincoln, Michael Lincoln and his wife Mary, Carolyn Snurr, and Henry Snurr. He is also survived by nieces Suzanne Korman, Judith Ferris, Pamela DeTemple, and nephew Randall Zigmont, as well as many lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Edmund Zigmont.
Mr. Zigmont retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1983 after a long career. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in retirement and he especially loved playing golf with friends. He was a longtime member of Christ Episcopal Church in Ansonia, and a memorial service will be held at the church at a time to be announced.
