Herbert Dixon Ritz, age 66, of Manchester, MD, passed away on August 26, 2026. He was born on March 11, 1960, in Baltimore, MD to Joseph Anthony & Irene Ameila Ritz and lived a joy filled and meaningful life. After graduating from Franklin High School, he studied photography and graphic design at the Visual Arts Institute in Baltimore. Among many other side jobs, he worked at Maryland Cup, and French Bray, where he printed programs, magazines, and posters for the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens sports teams. Herb started delivering mail for the Manchester Post Office as a substitute, which soon became a full-time job. He retired from the Post Office after 20 years of service.
He married “Dodi”, Doris Bernadette Herbert, on April 24,1982, and together they shared 44 wonderful years of marriage. Herb enjoyed trout fishing, gardening, bird watching (especially the Baltimore Ravens), antique shopping with his wife, playing with his grandkids, and relaxing in the pool. Herb and Dodi became members of Grace Bible Church where Herb served as a deacon. He was best known for his work ethic and his ability to find the fun, joy and adventure in life. Every day was a new and exciting opportunity for discovery. Herb Ritz never met a stranger and was always ready to help a neighbor in need. Herb died while mowing and weed eating the lawn of an 80-year-old widow that he met on his mail route.
He is survived by his wife Dodi, his three children Ashley, Zachary, and Jeremy, his son in law, Tony, his daughter in law, Carie, his three grandchildren, Benaiah, Judah, and Selah, his three brothers, Joe Jr., Fred, Tom, and sister Betsy. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Joseph and Irene Ritz.
