On July 18, 2014, Herman "Chuck" Bainder of Baltimore, left this earthly existence with the same humility, determination and grace by which he thrived all of his 98 years.
Herman served honorably with the U.S. Marine Corps in WWII. A retired educator, he traveled the world for pleasure and with purpose making lifelong friends and generously supporting many causes and charities. When travel became problematic, he enriched his life and the lives of others volunteering for years at the Walters Art Gallery and Union Memorial Hospital. He donated blood by the gallons, over the years, to the American Red Cross. He loved the arts. Painting, performing, entertaining and teaching. He cherished his friends, family and pets. He enjoyed lunching at the Hopkins Club, always his treat. Herman was a humble man who made a difference. His love, compassion, humor, humor, kindness and charitable ways made a lasting impact.
Herman was the youngest of a large blended family. Predeceased by all eight of his siblings. He leaves behind many friends and family to grieve, but more importantly, to honor his amazing life, by going forward with courage, commitment and compassion.
Friends may call on Tuesday 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A. 11605 Reisterstown Rd. Owings Mills, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Interment in the Hebrew Orthodox Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Herman's memory to a deserving charity of your choice.
