Hester Ethel Kemp

Hester Ethel Kemp, 96, of Mt. Airy, MD, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD.  Born on January 25, 1927, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Howard F. Baublitz and Alice Mae Bosley Baublitz.  She was the beloved wife of the late Vernon Lee Kemp, who passed on June 26, 1993.

Mom loved the Lord with all her heart, soul and mind and she lived her life in a way that she hoped would reflect the Lord's love to others.  She loved her family and prayed fervently for each one individually every morning. She read and studied the Bible each day and participated in a women's Bible study.  She enjoyed reading cozy mysteries as well as doing puzzles.  She loved flowers and had a sunroom full of plants and also liked to take care of flowers in her flower bed.  She enjoyed sewing.  She sewed quilting squares with women at Redeemer Lutheran.  The finished quilts were sent around the world to people who used them for shelter and as blankets.  She had a sweet tooth and enjoyed baking and sharing with her neighbors.

Surviving her is her son: Vernon C. Kemp and wife Evelyn, and their son Vernon C. Kemp, her daughter: Carrie L. Kelchner and husband Tom, and their children Ryan T. Kelchner, Sarah N. Kelchner.

Hester was predeceased by her brothers: Lester Baublitz, Nicholas Baublitz, and Leonard Baublitz, sisters: LaRue Good and Edna Baublitz, and grandchildren Teresa A. Kemp and Brian L. Kemp.

Funeral services and interment are private.
