Howard Henry Porter Sr., 80 years old of Westminster, died Tuesday, February 11, 2013 at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born April 1, 1932 in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Henry Clayton Porter and Florence Sibley Porter.
He was the husband of the late Doris Tucker Porter.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School, class of 1949. He entered the U.S. Navy, serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He served aboard the USS Shangri la (CV-38) and other aircraft carriers. After 20 years of service he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer, W-2. He was an avid reader of history books.
Surviving are his children: Donna Poulin, John Porter, Howard H. Porter, Jr., sister: Virginia Ostheimer, brother: Ellis Porter, grandchildren: Jessica Smith, Josh and Simon Porter, great grandchildren: Isabella Smith and Cimmera Porter.
He was predeceased by his son: Jesse Clayton Porter.
Services and Interment Private.
Burial in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
