Hugh Dudley Ferkler, 82, of Hampstead died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at home.
Born March 1, 1926, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Thomas Benton and Edith May Lewin Ferkler. He was the husband of Charlotte Elaine Merrick Ferkler, his wife of 55 years, who died in December 2001.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a retired installer for C & P Telephone Co.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening and following horse racing, as well as spending time with his family.
He was a member of the Hampstead American Legion and the Reisterstown Moose Lodge.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Deborah and Ben McCauley and Martin B. and Carol Woodland Fleischman, all of Reisterstown; grandchildren Mindy Prager, Benjamin McCauley and Alex Fleischman; great-grandchildren Tyler and Drew McCauley; and a sister, Edith May Liston.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, with the Rev. Clarence L. Roark officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park in Sykesville.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.
