Hugh Shaffer

Hugh Shaffer, 83, of Manchester, MD, passed suddenly on Nov. 13, 2022, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD, due to complications from a fall. Born on Nov. 30, 1938, he was the son of the late Roland Nathaniel and Mabel Margaret Wentz Shaffer of Manchester. Hugh was married to Judy J. Shaffer (Chenoweth) for 48 years.

He was a graduate of North Carroll High School (now North Carroll Middle School). After graduation, he was employed by AAI Corporation (now Textron) for 37 years, retiring as the Manager of Human Resources.

Hugh enjoyed crabbing, fishing, sports, and reading about Roman history. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and the Caribbean.

Surviving in addition to his wife is son: Michael B. Shaffer, daughters: Stacey Shaffer and Kristy Shaffer Marley (Mike). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son: Dr. Steven N. Shaffer, and brothers: Donald and Barry Shaffer.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at New Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester.
