Edward Jackie "Jack" Hetrick, 74, of West Manheim Township, Hanover, Pa., died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at home, following his seven-year battle with cancer.
Born Nov. 6, 1937, in Brodbecks, Pa., he was the son of the late Edward Jacob Hetrick and Ruth Masemer Hetrick. He was the husband of Vernice Rill Hetrick, his wife of 56 years, whom he married June 3, 1956.
He was of Christian faith, and worked as a farmer, butcher and meat cutter all his life. His passion was his family.
He retired from Hahn's of Westminster and enjoyed his retirement working on his farm. He was a former president of the Parkville Fire Company, and a current member of the Eagles of Hanover and the Pleasant Hill Fire Company. He was the owner of Hetrick's Deer Processing.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Lorraine Mason and husband Steve, Michael Hetrick and wife Patti, Sherry Mummert and husband Keith, Glen Hetrick and wife Jeanette, Carol Doermann and husband David, and Candy Herb and husband Dwaynne; siblings Maxine Hoke, Darlin Hiner, Dennis Hetrick and Patty Null-Laughman; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Roger Allen Hetrick; and a sister, Fairy Dill.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral chapel, with his pastor, the Rev. Scott Sager, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mark's Cemetery in Syndersburg.
