Jack Maynard Shepherd

Jack Maynard Shepherd, 88, of Manchester passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 12, 2016 at his home, which he had built. Born July 7, 1927 in Shepherdstown, WV, he was the son of the late Alonzo Oliver Shepherd and Anna May Carter Shepherd. He was the husband of Mary Helen Bentz Shepherd, his wife of 66 years who he met when he was a Park Ranger for Patapsco State Park. He was retired from the Baltimore County Highway Department, where he had worked as a truck driver. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Jacqueline May Shepherd, Jack Maynard Shepherd, and Jeffrey Mark Shepherd; his 7 grandchildren; his 4 great-grandchildren; and was predeceased by his children Judith Marie Fann and James Martin Shepherd. The family will receive friends 3-7 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Shepherd's name to a charity of one's choice.
