Jacob Oliver Lang, Jr., 82, of Upperco, died Friday September 9, 2011 at the Golden Crest Assisted Living in Hampstead.
Born January 12, 1929 in Snydersburg, he was the son of the late Jacob Oliver, Sr. and Nettie Corrine Winand Lang. He was the husband of the late Hilda Leola Bosley Mielke Lang, her husband of 38 years, who died April 10, 2010.
He was a member of St. Paul's Church and was active in the Calvary Bible Church. He was a member of the Super 60's Choir at the Church of the Door; also he enjoyed singing in Nursing Homes and Quartets.
He was a mechanic, also working on lawn mowers and chain saws, and worked as a machinist for Black and Decker. In addition, he drove buses for Earl Smith Bus Service and was a fuel man for Gray and Sons.
Surviving is his son Donald Eugene Lang of Hampstead; his stepchildren William Clarence and Charles Robert Mielke both of Hampstead; George Herbert Mielke of Upperco, Dorothy Marie Wright of Boring, Margaret Grimes of Taneytown, Evelyn Leisher of Scranton, PA, and Grace Katherine Devereux of Upperco.
He was predeceased by his son Robert Allen Lang, his stepson Arthur Mielke, and his brother Ervin Lang.
The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. John Campbell officiating.
Interment will be in St Paul's Cemetery in Millers.
