Jacob Luther Myers, 90, of Manchester, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Nova Springs Assisted Living in Finksburg, Maryland. Born on February 7, 1932 in Alesia, Maryland, he was the son of the late Jacob LeRoy Myers and Ida Christine Michael Myers. He was the beloved husband of the late Alice Ann Minor Myers, who passed away in 2018.
Luther was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He retired from teaching with Baltimore County Public Schools after many years. In his retirement years, he drove part time for Rohrbaugh's Charter Bus Company. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester and also a member of several fox hunting clubs. Luther spent over 70 years owning and caring for horses. He rode them regularly and took great pride in the care of them.
Surviving him are siblings: Janet Christine Stillman of Buffalo, NY, Richard Edward Myers and his wife Barbara of New Freedom, PA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Luther was predeceased by his son: Ross Mulford Myers, and sibling: Doris Ellen Smith, Franklin LeRoy Myers, and Mary Ruth Bollinger.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, March 16, from 10:30 – 11 am at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am.
Inurnment to follow in New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, Maryland.
