James William Engel

James "Jim" William Engel, 87, of Owings Mills, MD, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2017 at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Born on April 21, 1930, he was the son of the late Clarence Norman and Christina Dietz Engel. He was the loving husband of 69 years to Mary Lillian Bates Engel.

Years ago, Jim worked as a carpenter in home improvement. He enjoyed camping and was known as a good neighbor and a good man. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of the V.F.W. Post 521 in Owings Mills, MD.

Surviving in addition to his wife are children: Kathleen Boggs and husband Gary and Karen O'Connell and husband Jay, all of Tennessee, grandchildren: Megan Smith and husband Sean and JackiAnn Saley, and four great-grandchildren: Ethan, Hayley, Breanna and Liam.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 15, from 10 am to 12 noon at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117. A graveside service and interment to follow at Lake View Memorial Park Cemetery, Sykesville, MD.
