James William Hambleton, 83 of Plum Creek in Hanover (formerly from Reisterstown) was suddenly taken to be with the Lord on Friday, January 6, 2017.
Born on November 17, 1933 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Ralph and Emma McCubbin Hambleton.
Jimmy was one of the top commercial plasterers in Maryland working on job sites such as the Walters Art Gallery, Peabody Institute, BWI, and the Pennsylvania Railroad. He worked for John Hampshire & Co. from age 16-55. He became the baker in the family and earned the nickname "cake man" for the countless cakes he gave to nearly everyone he met. He was an avid gardener; he enjoyed growing produce in abundance to bless others. He was also active in Super Sixties of Church of the Open Door and AARP of Westminster.
He is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Carole Dunn Hambleton; his children, James Taylor of Princess Anne, MD, Terry Smith and husband Robert Smith of Cairo, GA, Patti Elgersma and husband Hank Elgersma of Westminster, MD, Wendy Reinholt and husband Jerry Reinholt of Westminster, MD, Tracy Hambleton of Westminster, MD, and Kelly Waddell and husband Daniel Waddell of Westminster, MD; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. He is survived also by two sisters, Kathryn Yarborough and Mary Hood.
He was predeceased by his daughter Laura Lee Hambleton, and three brothers, Ralph Hambleton, Peter Hambleton, and Robert Hambleton.
Jimmy will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday Jan. 21, 2017 at 11:00am. at Frizzellburg Bible Church, 1905 Frizzellburg Rd., Westminster, MD. 21158 with a reception to follow at the church. The Rev. Andrew Reisberg will officiate.
