James "Jim" John Singer, 91, of Manchester, MD, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. Born on January 23, 1931, in Hampstead, Maryland, he was the son of the late Lillian Singer Mays. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to the late Nina Singer, who passed away in 2006.
Jim served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea from 1950-1951. He retired from Black and Decker after 37 years of employment. He also worked for Plumbing Heating Supply for several years and also drove a school bus for the ARC. Jim was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 200 in Hampstead. He enjoyed playing cards, sprint car racing, and tending to his garden. What brought him the most joy in his life was his family.
Surviving him are children: Eddie Singer and wife Brenda, Charles Singer, Gail Crowl and husband Ed, Bonnie McWilliams and husband John, grandchildren: Stacy Singer, Shelli Kleman and husband Bobby, Katie Mirfin and husband Dwayne, Dana McWilliams, Eric McWilliams and wife Brittany, and Brian Snyder, great-grandchildren: Alesha Johnson, Miranda Mirfin, Sophia Mirfin, Sydney Mirfin, Bristol Zepp, Riley McWilliams, and sister: Carolynn Siegman and husband Kenny.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, May 5, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, May 6, at 10 am.
Interment to follow in New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, MD.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post 200, 4600 Legion Lane, Hampstead, MD 21074.
