James Douglas McGhee (Jim, Jimmy), 76, of Hampstead, MD, took his last breathe on this earth on Tuesday, December 13 th , 2022, in his home. He was surrounded by the love of his son, Douglas McGhee, and granddaughter, Tanya McGhee, who he cherished in his own unique and stubborn, old man, kind of way.
Born on June 5 th , 1946, he was the son of the late Isaac Gray McGhee and Sylvia Mae Whalen McGhee. He shared in many special relationships and memories with those who really knew him and spoke of those memories to his final days. You know who you are and he asks you to "remember the good times."
James was an honorable United States Navy Veteran, serving two cruises on the U.S.S. Coontz during the Vietnam War. Honor is due to him and all who serve our great country. For a few decades, he was found driving truck from town to town, watching old western shows, and poking fun at those he cared for. He mostly enjoyed helping someone in need near or far. His actions proved a gentle heart and sincere spirit.
His wisdom to impart on those who care to listen is this; "work hard, be honest, dont owe nobody nothing, get it in writing, take care of what you got, and lastly, chill."
Following his wishes, there will be no service. James was a no fuss or frills kind of man. His ashes will be placed at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery. He asks you give generously to the kids at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This is very important to him and there is a memorial fund created in his name. Arrangements are by the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., Manchester, MD.
