James Thomas Rill

James Thomas Rill, 77, of Hampstead, passed away on Wednesday, June 17 2026. He was the loving husband to Beverly (Rupp) Rill for 44 years. He was born June 25, 1948, in Hampstead to Milson Thomas Rill and Roberta (Snyder) Rill Blum.

Jim retired in 2011 as the Technical Manager of Transmission Development at Black & Decker, beginning his career as a Tool & Die Maker in 1966. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, crabbing, and being with his ever growing family. His special place was at his cabin on Taylors Island, or floating in the water in Curacao with his friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Daniel Brian Reed of Tennessee, and Gregory Benton Reed and wife, Amy, of Florida. His grandchildren were so special to him; Carly (Brandon) Caetoe and MaKenna Reed of TN; and Alexander, Nicholas, and Zachary Reed of FL; his loving sister, Norma Beam of Finksburg; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Leppo, Kathy Williams, and Karen (Mark) Wilhelm. He grew up as an uncle and honorary big brother to his niece and nephews, William “Billy” Beam of TX; Michael (Tammy) Beam; Cherie (Michael) Hughes; and Steven (Vickie) Beam. He was predeceased by his nephew Bobby Beam and brothers-in-law, Charles R. Beam and David Leppo. He is also survived by his large extended family of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, June 24, from 5 pm to 8 pm at ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 25, at the funeral home.
