James Albert Rooney, 86 years old of Reisterstown, died Friday, October 17, 2008 at the Northwest Hospital Center in Randallstown.
Born August 28, 1922 in Dorchester, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Francis Rooney and Sara G. Clarke Rooney. Dorothy, his beloved wife of 56 years, predeceased him in October of 2007.
Mr. Rooney was a graduate of Boston College and he served honorably with the U.S. Navy in WWII. He was an accountant with Western Auto, where he worked for 30 years. Mr. Rooney was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glyndon. He loved baseball and was a member of the Oriole Advocates.
Mr. Rooney is survived by his children: James Francis Rooney and his wife Julie of Portola Valley, California, Madeleine Rooney and her friend Anita Holloway of Chicago, Illinois, and Thomas Rooney of Westminster. He is the grandfather of James William, Zachary, Marcus and Abigail Rooney.
At his request, he was cremated. A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 65 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon with a reception afterwards.
His ashes will be interred in the family plot along with his wife in Salem, NH at a later date.
