James O. "Toby" Long, 79, of Reisterstown, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at the Dove House in Westminster, after an extended illness.
Born in Reisterstown, he was the son of the late Charles Henry and Elsie Fowble Long. He was the husband of Patricia Haugie Long.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School, where he excelled in baseball. He worked for years at the Bendix Corp., and in deliveries for a publication company.
He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He also liked watching football.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Jamie Long; grandchildren Michael and Steven Rice; and a sister, Rosella Adams.
He was predeceased by siblings Etta Allers, and Carroll, William, Lee and John Long.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Dr. David Stenner and the Rev. Timothy Feaser officiating. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery in Reisterstown.
