Jean Eckhardt McWilliams, 93, formerly of Reisterstown, MD, passed away on December 21, 2017 at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, MD, surrounded by family. She was the daughter of Frederick S. and Nellie Pitts Eckhardt and the devoted wife of Dr. Clarence (Mac) McWilliams, who preceded her in death in 2005, to whom she was married for 60 years.

Born in Cumberland, MD, Jean moved with her family to Glyndon at the age of eight. A graduate of Franklin High School and Western Maryland College, she served the military as a WAVE and was a social worker for Baltimore City prior to starting her family.

After living in Bremerhaven, Germany while her husband was a U.S. Army physician, the couple returned to Reisterstown where Dr. McWilliams established his private medical practice. Jean assisted him in the office which was in the family home where they raised their eight children. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the Woman's Club of Glyndon.

Jean enjoyed the beach, playing tennis, riding her bike and reading; but most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  After retirement, she and Mac lived in Fenwick Island, DE and Naples, FL where they were often hosts to a full house.

Jean is survived by her brothers, Rev. Frederick P. Eckhardt and H. James (Patricia) Eckhardt; sons Gary McWilliams, Dr. Wayne (Janice) McWilliams, Ross McWilliams (James Simpson), Brent McWilliams, Carl (Rebecca) McWilliams, Craig (Kimberly) McWilliams; and daughters, Linda (C. Richard) Broderick and Beth (Samuel) Tressler.  She was pre-deceased by daughter-in-law, Carol K. McWilliams and sister-in-law, Nancy G. Eckhardt.  She was the loving grandmother of 22 and great grandmother of nine, as well as caring aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Burial was on December 23, 2017 at St. Paul's Church cemetery in Upperco, MD with arrangements by ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A.  A memorial gathering will be on January 27, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the Krug Chapel at Carroll Lutheran Village, with a celebration of Jean's life to follow at 11:00.  Memorial donations may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157 or Ministry of Caring at Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, MD 21158.
