Jennifer Lynne Schmidt-Bortner

Jennifer Lynne Schmidt-Bortner, 45, of Hampstead, MD, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD. Born on July 22, 1972, in Baltimore City, MD, she was the daughter of Ron and Linda Schmidt of Upperco, MD. She was the wife of Michael Lawrence Bortner for 18 years. Beloved mother of Hunter Ronald Bortner of Upperco, MD, also survived by adopted brother: Brian Farrell.

Jennifer worked as an E.R. Secretary in the Carroll Hospital Center and was a graduate of Hereford High School. She was a member of the Eastern Star Lebanon Lodge 108 and Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 3, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm as well as on Monday, December 4, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm with an Order of the Eastern Star Service to begin at 8:30 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 5, at 11 am at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 2533 Mt. Carmel Road, Parkton, MD 21120. Interment to follow in New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, MD.
