Joan Katherine Bildstein, 89, of Westminster, formerly of Glyndon, MD, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, MD. Born on February 4, 1937, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Edward Eppler and Mary Angela Kearney Eppler. She was the beloved wife of 52 years to the late Francis Evans Bildstein.
Joan was a graduate of the Institute of Notre Dame and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She was a dedicated and highly respected registered nurse who took great pride in her work having retired from Carroll Hospital Center after 28 years of service. She was also a member of the Hampstead Lioness Club and Mercy Hospital Nurses Alumae Association. She was looking forward to meeting her first great-grandchild, Eleanor Joan.
Surviving her are children: Joseph E. Bildstein and wife Khumpha of Navarre, FL, John F. Bildstein and wife Christina of Hampstead, MD, Joanne K. Maiorano and husband Paul of Middletown, DE, and grandchildren: Katherine (Aaron), Alexis (Ryan), Andrew and Rebecca.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, April 12, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 13, at 11 am, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 63 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon, MD.
Interment to follow in Moreland Memorial Park, Parkville, MD.
If desired, donations may be made to Carroll Hospice, Residents Assistance Fund at Carroll Lutheran Village or Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF).
