Joan Elizabeth Cornell, 76, of Manchester died Monday, June 10, 2013 At Long View Nursing Home in Manchester.
Born October 4, 1936 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William Russell Shamer and Elizabeth Rebecca Study Shamer. She was the wife of Joseph Cornelious Cornell, Sr., her husband of 48 years, who died in 2006.
Years ago, she was a waitress at the Westminster Moose. She enjoyed attending the Moose and playing bingo. She was an avid animal lover.
Surviving are her children Thomas Roden, III and wife Sherrie of New Windsor, Linda Kulp-Trout and husband Thomas of Gettysburg, PA, Sharon Ridgely and husband Bryan of Manchester, Joe Cornell, Jr. and wife Kathy of Westminster, Sherry Schweinsberg of New Oxford, PA, and Joanie Mayle and husband Harold, III of Taneytown; grandmother of 10; great grandmother of 5; and great great grandmother of 1.
She was predeceased by her brothers John Shamer and William Shamer.
The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 p.m. until time of funeral service, 8 p.m. Wednesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester with the Rev. Matthew S. Schenning officiating. A private cremation will follow at All Faiths Crematory and Chapel in Manchester and interment will be Patapsco Cemetery in Finksburg.
