Joan Lee Hughes

Joan Lee Hughes, 90, formerly of Reisterstown, MD and a resident of Myrtle Beach, SC, died Monday, February 19, 2024, at NHC Nursing Home in Garden City, SC.

Born February 12, 1934, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Eva A. Vitt.  She was the wife of the late Gene Hughes.

Joan is survived by her son Gene Charles Hughes of Baltimore, MD; daughter and son-in-law Sharon and David Ramsey of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter and son-in-law Leslie and Edward Grempler of Reisterstown, MD; three grandchildren Mandy Hughes, Jason Grempler, and Brandon Smith; and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Gene and daughter-in-law Wendy Hughes.  Joan was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, affectionately known to all as "Buscia."

A visitation with family members and friends will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117, where a funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m.

Interment to follow in Druid Ridge Cemetery, 7900 Park Heights Av., Pikesville, MD 21208.
