John Charles Anderson, Sr.

John Charles Anderson, Sr., 91, of New Freedom, PA, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Rest Haven Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in York, PA. Born on January 26, 1932, in Reisterstown, MD, he was the son of the late Oscar William Anderson and Gladys Long Anderson. Twice married, he was the husband of the late May Parks Anderson, and the late Mary S. Anderson.

John was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He was an avid train collector. He was a member of the Train Collectors Association and the Merchant Marines.

Surviving him are children: Pat Fitzgerald of New Freedom, PA, and Kenneth L. Anderson of Baltimore, MD, granddaughter: Jessie L. Ohler and husband Justin, and great-grandson: Julian L. Ohler.

John was predeceased by his son: John C. Anderson, Jr.

Interment with military honors will be held on Friday, February 10, at 1 pm, in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, MD.
