John David Brown

John
David Brown, 77, of Hampstead died Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Long View
Nursing Home in Manchester.

Born
September 2, 1933 in Manchester, he was the son of the late John Herring Brown
and Estie E. Leister Brown.  He was the
husband of June Wilhelm Brown, his wife of 55 years, whom he celebrated an
anniversary on April 9, 2010.

He
was an active member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 50
years.  He attended Manchester High
School where he graduated in 1951 and then attended Strayer Business School
before going to work for the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company, where he
worked as a customer service representative with 40 years of service from 1952
to 1992.  After his retirement, he went
to work for his brother in law J.C. Wilhelm, Inc.

He
was drafted into the United States Navy in 1956 where he served 1 year at the
Naval Recovery Station in Washington, D.C., and the remainder of his tour
aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal.  He was a
life member of the Manchester Volunteer Fire Company where he held the office
of secretary.  In addition, he was also a
member of the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company.

In
his spare time, he enjoyed his family especially attending his grandson's
baseball and basketball games.  He also
enjoyed working in his garden and giving vegetables to his family, friends, and
neighbors.

Surviving
in addition to his wife is a daughter and son in law Susan and Robert Yingling
of Hampstead; a son and daughter in law David and Amy Brown of Hampstead; his
grandchildren Jeffrey Yingling and his wife Jennifer, Michael Yingling, and
Abby Brown; a great granddaughter Ava Leigh Yingling; and a sister Alice
Warehime of Manchester.

He
was predeceased by his sisters Myrtle Shuck and Dorothy Hypes.

The
family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Eckhardt
Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.

A
funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Evangelical
Lutheran Church, 3184 Church Street, Manchester with the Revs. Matthew S. and
Norma L. Schenning officiating.

Interment
will be in the New Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester.
