John James Hartlove, 86, of Reisterstown, MD, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at his home. Born on January 25, 1934, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late John Christian and Cora Jane Streeter Hartlove. He was the beloved husband of the late Elaine Vivian Wolf, who passed away in 2009.
John was a graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and Johns Hopkins University, and went on to work as a civil engineer for the State of Maryland. He was a proud veteran and served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Optimist Club. John enjoyed sailing, woodworking, and was a devoted Ravens fan. Playing card games such as Pitch and Bridge were also favorite pastimes. He enjoyed regular outings with cousins, former work colleagues, friends, and neighbors. A devoted and caring grandfather, he was deeply involved in the lives of his grandchildren, attending music and dance recitals, and sporting events.
Surviving him are children: Michele Hartlove and partner Dan Sherman, Chris Hartlove and wife Trish, and Kelly Day and husband Kevin, and grandchildren: Juliana, Claire, Sarah, and John.
Services and interment are private. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
