John Charles Horak

John Charles Horak, 92, of Upperco, MD, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023, at BridgingLife Dove House, Westminster, MD. Born on August 27, 1930, he was the son of the late John Frank Horak and Margaret M. Soellner Horak. He was the beloved husband of the late Jeanette "Jean" Corinne Horak, who passed away in 2020.

John worked as an estimator for underground utilities and construction. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, the Old Line Statesmen Barber Shop Quartet, as well as Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he was also a long time Usher. John enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, crabbing, playing cards, and spending time with his friends and family. He was known as "Pop-Pop" to his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving him are daughters: Barbara Jean Parks and husband Michael, Lauri Ann Rosso and husband Tom, Juliana Marie Perez and husband Phil, Michele Louise Calhoun and husband James, Mary Elizabeth Swack and husband Phil, and Patricia Ellen Rose and husband Tony, 20 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and sister: Janice Mohorovic and husband Jake.

John was predeceased by his siblings: Martin G. Horak and Madeline Klein.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, February 9, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 10, at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 65 Sacred Heart Lane, Reisterstown, MD 21136, and the service will also be live streamed at https://www.shgparish.org/.

Interment to follow in St. Paul's Church Cemetery, Upperco, MD.
