John Joseph "Jack" Cress, 81, of Reisterstown died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at his home.
Born August 25, 1930 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Charles Cress and Margaret Buettner Cress.
He was the husband of Elizabeth "Bettye" Engle Cress, his wife of 61 years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a repair supervisor in the fuel oil industry and in his spare time he was an avid fisherman.
Surviving in addition to his wife, a daughter Joanne Marie Cress; a son-in-law Joseph Waite; a grandson Christopher Joseph Waite and wife Bethany; his great grandchildren Madison and Tyler Waite; and survived by other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter Deborah Waite, his infant son Michael Joseph Cress, and his siblings Marjorie Dugan, Thomas Cress, and Patricia Carr.
The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills where Catholic prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday with Msgr. Lloyd Aiken officiating.
Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Sykesville.
