John Edward Leather, Jr.

John Edward "Ed" "Poppers" Leather, Jr., 86, of Hampstead, MD, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Lookabout Manor, Westminster, MD.  Born on February 24, 1932 in Pimlico, MD, he was the son of the late John Edward Leather Sr., and Mary Reed Leather. He was the loving husband of Patricia Kenealy Leather.

Ed worked for many years as a bank manager. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. Years ago, he played baseball, basketball and was an avid golfer.  He enjoyed all kinds of sports, coached baseball, and loved spending time with his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife are children: Terry E. Leather of Pasadena, MD, and Tammy Chisholm of Hampstead, MD, grandchildren: Gabrielle, Nicholas, Lauren, Hailey, Collin, Samantha, and Dylan.

He was predeceased by a daughter: Tracey Lee Leather-Long, and a sister: Rosalee Shuffler.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 30, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102.

The funeral service and interment is private.
