John Anthony Michaelides, Sr., 85, of Owings Mills, MD, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Northwest Hospital Center, Randallstown, MD, with his family by his side. John was born on November 21, 1937, in Baltimore, MD. He was the only son of the late Michael Michaelides and Olympia Imparato Michaelides, of Cypriot and Italian heritage.
He was the beloved husband of Barbara Marie (Kline) Michaelides. They met as teenagers and married soon thereafter; this June would have been their 66th wedding anniversary.
John retired from Merrill Lynch in 1995 after 39 years as an operations manager. He also worked nights at his parents' bar and restaurant, Come On In, during the 1960's and 1970's. After retirement, John worked as a security guard for Pinkerton with assignments at several local businesses in Baltimore County. In 2007, he devoted his time to his wife Barbara and their family.
Surviving him in addition to his wife: John Michaelides Jr and wife Maxine, Nicholas Michaelides and wife Rita, Christopher Michaelides and wife Donna, daughter-in-law Sally Michaelides. Grandchildren: Kristen Buettner, Michael Michaelides Jr. and wife Val, Kayleigh Michaelides, Calla Michaelides Lokku and husband Fisnik, Nicholas Michaelides II and wife Taylor, Matthew Michaelides and Jordan Michaelides. Great grandchildren: Landon and Ava Buettner, Michael and Abigail Frock.
John was predeceased by his sons Thomas Michaelides (2006), and Michael Michaelides, Sr. (2015) and granddaughter Courtney Michaelides (2023).
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 19, at 11:00 am at Lake View Memorial Park at 2724 Liberty Rd, Sykesville, MD 21784. Please join us afterwards for a celebration lunch at 12 noon at Sykesville Station, 7618 W Main Street, Sykesville, MD 21784.
