John Hartman Miller, 69, of Hanover, PA, passed away peacefully the evening of Friday, December 27, 2024, at UPMC Hanover. Born on June 28, 1955, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Joseph Hartman and Mary Irene Benko Miller. He was the beloved husband of Susan Alane Finnerty Miller.
John retired as a lieutenant with the Baltimore City Police Department, protecting and serving the community he grew up in. He also spent the better part of 20 years working as a security officer at Stevenson University. John was a devoted member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Throughout John's life he enjoyed vacationing with his family in the Outer Banks, birdwatching, a good round of putt-putt golf, was an avid reader, a Washington Capitals and Baltimore Orioles fan, and chatting and joking with all his retired police and Stevenson friends. He was well known for doling out comical nicknames and hijacking the TV remote then immediately falling asleep!
