John Jay Newman, 71 of Manchester, MD passed peacefully Thursday Oct. 27, 2016 at the Long View Health Care Center in Manchester. Born July 14, 1945 in Ogden, Utah he was the son of the late John and Florence Newman. He was the husband of Linda Miller Newman.
He was a retired truck driver for J.W. Treuth and Sons Inc. He was a member of Manchester Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran where he served two tours in Vietnam. He enjoyed eating and traveling.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children; John Newman and wife Leslie of York, South Carolina and Tammy Fenwick and husband Neil of Savage, MD, stepchildren; Charles "Chip" Cramer of Elkton, MD and Douglas Cramer and wife Tasha of Manchester, MD, siblings: Charles Newman and wife Susie of Ukiah, California and Wayne Newman and wife Shirley of Honolulu, Hawaii. He is also survived by grandchildren; Kayla and Ethan Newman, Hailey and Owen Fenwick and Zebadiah and Jessica Cramer.
The family will receive friends at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD on Sunday Oct. 30, 2016 from 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday at Manchester Baptist Church, 2933 Manchester Baptist Church Rd., Manchester, MD at 10am. with the Rev. David Scafide officiating. Interment will be in the New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester.
