John Richard Zavoyna Sr., 78, of Reisterstown died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium.
Born March 12, 1930, in New York City, he was the son of the late Michael and Katherine Zavatsky Zavoyna. He was the husband of Mary C. Loftus Zavoyna, his wife of 24 years, who died in 1980.
He was a sales representative for Joseph Seagram's & Sons. He was a Navy veteran and served from 1948-1952 during the Korean War.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glyndon. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law John R. Zavoyna Jr. and Holly Zavoyna, Michael and Susan Zavoyna, Mark and Kathleen Zavoyna and Greg and Deb Zavoyna; daughters and sons-in-law Cathy and Phil Mazzone and Debbie and David Zikorus; and grandchildren Ross, Alex, Lauren, Chloe, Megan, Ryan, Jessica, Michael, Madelyn, Luke, Claire and Jenna.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church, Glyndon, 65 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon, with Monsignor Lloyd Aiken officiating. Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills.
