Joseph Francis Carr, Sr., 79, of Westminster, died Thursday, Oct. 1 2009, at home.

Born January 24, 1930 in Chester, PA he was the son of the late James and Lavinia Carr, and the husband of Barbara Bennett Carr.

A graduate of St. James Academy in Chester, PA, he attended Temple University. U.S. Navy veteran, he served during the Korean War and retired from Alcan Aluminum as a sales representative. Very active in the Reisterstown area he coached youth baseball and basketball, enjoyed playing golf and was a past member of the Tee To Green golf club and supported the activities of his grandchildren. He and his wife Barbara enjoyed traveling, and square dancing with the Calico Squares and Swing Eights. He was a past member of the Men's Club of All Saints Episcopal Church.

Surviving are his wife Barbara, son Joseph F. Carr, Jr., son and daughter-in-law David and Peggy Carr, daughter and son-in-law Donna and John Bandzwolek, daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Dennis Capps, step daughter Anne Bennett Pfeiffer and her husband Tim, sisters Elizabeth Sacko, Lavinia Luke, Mary Lynch, Margaret Doohan and grandchildren Patrick and his wife Colleen, Chelsea, Joseph III, Michael, Kevin and Karen Carr, Jennifer and John Bandzwolek, and step grandchildren Eric and Keith Pfeiffer, Jeremiah Albright and Nathaniel and his wife Erin Albright.

He was predeceased by his first wife Beverly I. Carr, sister Rose Martin and brothers James and William Carr.

Friends may call on Sunday October 4 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5, at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, 203 E. Chatsworth Ave. Reisterstown 21136

Interment will follow at Druid Ridge Cemetery.
