Joseph Sterling Hunter, Sr.

Joseph Sterling Hunter, Sr., 88, of Hanover, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Homewood of Plum Creek.  Born on October 9, 1936, in Manchester, MD.  He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline M. Shower Hunter, his wife of 68 years.

Surviving him in addition to his wife is a son: Todd Hunter, Sr. of Georgia, two grandsons: Joseph III and Todd, Jr, and one great-grandson: Greyson.

He was predeceased by his son: Joseph, Jr., who passed away in October, 2020.

Joe graduated from Manchester High School in 1955. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1955 to 1959.  He retired from the State of Maryland after many years of service.  Joe was a Third Degree Mason of Lebanon Lodge of Manchester #175, and a Shriner of Boumi Temple.

His hobbies included playing cards with friends, bicycling, swimming, square dancing, and racing homing pigeons.

Funeral services and interment are private.
