Judith “Judie" Ann Schussler, 70, of Owings Mills, MD, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore City, MD. Born on February 27, 1956, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late John Chojnacki and Cora (Bentz) Chojnacki. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Schussler, Jr., who passed away in 2005.
Some people have a way of making everyone who walks through their door feel like family. Judie was one of those people.
To her daughter, she was Mom or Momma. To countless others, she was simply Mom or MomMom. Those weren't just names people called her. They were a reflection of the love, comfort, and sense of belonging she gave so freely.
Judie had a special way of investing herself in the lives of those around her. Whether you were family, a lifelong friend, or a friend of her children or grandchildren, once you entered her home, you mattered to her. She took the time to sit with you, talk with you, listen to you, offer advice when you needed it, and comfort you when life became difficult. Her conversations were never simply small talk. They came from the heart. She genuinely wanted to know about your life, your struggles, your happiness, and the things that mattered to you.
She had a way of making people feel that they weren't just visitors in her home, but that they had a place in her heart. Perhaps one of the most beautiful things about Judie's life was that the family she created extended far beyond those related to her by blood.
And while Judie gave so much of her heart to others, she was also fortunate enough to experience a love that some people spend their entire lives searching for, not once, but twice.
First with her husband, Tom, and later with Neil, her devoted companion of 15 years. Both men loved her unconditionally and selflessly, giving her their hearts and standing beside her through life's many seasons. And while Judie could certainly be a stubborn, fiery woman, there was never any question about the depth of love she had for them in return. She loved them both with all her heart, each holding a special and irreplaceable place in her life's story.
Judie was a woman who loved fiercely, spoke from the heart, and left a little piece of herself with everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her love was not measured simply by the family she was born into or the family she raised, but by the countless lives she touched and the people who came to call her their own.
Surviving her is her daughter: Corinne Beatty and husband Carl IV, grandchildren: Rebecca Grace Beatty and Carl Beatty V, sisters: Christine Kotchenreuther and Darlene Creamer, sister-in-law: Karen Chojnacki, and beloved nieces and nephews, brother-in-law: Mike Schussler and wife Phyllis, sister-in-law: Cathy Hoffman and husband Chris, and beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her longtime significant other of 15 years: Neil Bareham.
Judith was predeceased by her brother: John Chojnacki.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, please check back for details.
