Karla Schroeder Geldmacher

Karla Schroeder Geldmacher, 75, of Reisterstown, MD passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Carroll Hospital. Born on May 7, 1946, in Baltimore MD, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Hugo William Schroder and Florence May Schroeder.

Karla died after a brief but intense fight with appendiceal cancer

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, John W. Geldmacher; her children:  Jean Geldmacher Dykes (Garland), Elizabeth Geldmacher Friedman and John E. (Jed) Geldmacher (Colleen); her eight grandchildren:  Andy, Christopher, Garland, Olivia, Nathan, Kennedy, Joey and Sophia; her brothers Rev. Hugo W. Schroeder, Jr. and, Dr. Martin L. Schroeder, and her sister Beebe James; as well as numerous nieces and nephews

Her brother Rev. Carl E. Schroeder predeceased her.

She taught at Pimlico Elementary School, where she had a great impact on her students. She then became a reading specialist, taught in Carroll County schools, and tutored several additional students. After retiring from teaching to raise her children, her final career was as a Certified Public Accountant.

She also served on various boards and as treasurer for a number of non-profit organizations.

A common thread throughout her careers was the building of relationships with those she served.

She loved to bask in sunshine and always spread sunshine to others.

She was much loved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11 am at Christ Lutheran Inner Harbor, 701 S Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21230.

Interment is private.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Institute for Cancer Care at Mercy.
