Kathleen “Kathy” Carol Burgesen

Kathleen "Kathy" Carol Burgesen, 72, of Owings Mills, MD, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at her home. Born on September 23, 1951, in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Donlin J. and Carol Cunningham McCarthy. She was the beloved wife of Jack R. Burgesen.

In the early 80's Kathy worked at Schoeneman's Clothing Factory, then went on to sell real estate at O'connor Piper and Flynn in the late 80's and 90's, but her most gratifying job was Caves Critters Pet Sitting Service, a business she started with her goddaughter/niece Melissa. Kathy had such a love for animals of all kinds, and rescued many in her lifetime. The animals were her world! In addition, she loved rock n roll, oldies and Irish music. She enjoyed cheering on the Ravens and the Orioles & attended many baseball games with her husband Jack, goddaughter/niece Melissa, nephew in law Tom, & grandson Tanner. Kathy loved spending time with her pets, family, friends and beloved grandchild who she spoiled to pieces and adored beyond measure, she truly loved being called "Nana"! Kathy was a very devoted and selfless person, you could always count on to help, as she offered kindness and love to every soul she met, young or old, four legged or two. Kathy will be very dearly missed by all whose lives were so blessed for having known her.

Surviving her in addition to her husband is goddaughter/niece: Melissa Myers and husband Tom, grandson: Tanner Jack, sister: Patricia McCarthy, sister-in-law: Michelle Burgesen, niece: Carol Lynn Feeley and husband George, and grandniece and grandnephew: Ryan and Megan Feeley. Kathy is survived by not only her family, but by many friends that loved her so very much. She is also survived by her faithful dog: Ellie, and her beloved kitties.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, March 19, from 7-9 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, at 10 am.

Interment to follow in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD.
