Kenneth Norwood Frederick

Kenneth Norwood Frederick, 87, of Catonsville, MD, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at St. Agnes Hospital, Baltimore, MD. Born on April 15, 1932, he was the son of the late Charles Wesley and Mary Scharff. He was the loving companion of 40 years to Dorothy Kemstedt.

Years ago, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was a proud veteran. He was also a golden gloves boxer while in the Air Force. He was a firefighter for the Baltimore City Fire Department and was also a self-employed master plumber. Kenneth loved fishing, traveling, cooking, writing poetry, and spending time with his family. A man with deep passions, varied interests, and a great sense of humor, Ken brought laughter and joy into the lives of all who knew him.

Surviving in addition to his companion are children: Debra Jacklin, Susan Young, Melissa Brown, Dawn Elissa Stickler and husband Douglas, and Marcia Hanifee, grandchildren: Crystal, Nichole, Matt, Tony, Amber, Gary, Brooke, Katina, Justin, Jason, Ashleigh, Brandon, and Matthew, and 19 great grandchildren, and his companion Dorothy's sons:  James Waller and husband Jim O'Connor, and Paul Waller and wife Lynn.

He was predeceased by children: Sharon White, William Woodward White, Melanie McElhiney, and Terry Frederick, and siblings: Charles Frederick Jr, Jack Frederick, and Wayne Frederick.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, June 24, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm, and on Tuesday, June 25, from 6-8 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A. 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117. A funeral procession will meet at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 26, at 8:45 am and proceed to the graveside service and interment in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD.
