Kenneth "Ken" Leroy Bosley, formerly of Hampstead, MD, peacefully passed away on July 28, 2024, surrounded by his family at Milford Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware. Born on July 6, 1937, Ken was the son of the late Leroy E. and Mabel E. Bosley. He was the devoted husband of the love of his life, Patricia Ann (Hughes) Bosley, with whom he celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in June. Ken was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend to many.
Ken graduated from Hereford High School in 1957. After leaving the family farm, he dedicated 44 years of his life to the floor-covering sales industry, earning a reputation for his expertise and commitment. A true handyman, Ken had a gift for fixing almost anything and took great joy in working with his hands, especially when tending to his garden. His love for gardening, growing fresh vegetables and flowers, and spending time in the sun brought him immense satisfaction and peace. Ken was also a proud community supporter, serving as a long-standing member of the Hampstead Lions Club before moving to Ocean View, Delaware, in 2007.
An avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens, Ken rarely missed a game and always cheered on his favorite teams with passion. His love for music was evident, as his home was often filled with the sounds of country or gospel music, or drum corps cadences. Ken worked hard to provide for his family and never missed his kids' activities, becoming a powerful role model to them. Above all, Ken treasured his time with his grandchildren. "Granddad" was actively involved in their lives, coaching baseball teams and attending various events, always offering unwavering support and encouragement. He was an incredible grandfather to his adoring grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Ken is survived by his children Steven and Leslie Bosley, Larry and Debbie Bosley, Sharon Bosley, and Richard Bosley; his cherished grandchildren Kimberly (Nick) Liberty, Curtis, Taylor (Kirstin), Brooks (Devon), Andrew (Ashlyn), Brady, Corbin, Alec (Christina), Grace, and Matthew Bosley; and great-grandchildren Braiden, Addyson, Patrick, Scarlett, Susannah, Bailey, and Huxley. Ken is also survived by his sisters Edith Tracey and Shirley Smith, and brothers Robert (Cathy) and Ralph (Chris) Bosley. He was predeceased by his son Timothy Bosley, and his siblings Donald and Dorothy Bosley.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, August 4, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., located at 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD. A service to celebrate Ken's life will be held on Monday, August 5, at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project on behalf of Ken.
Ken will be remembered for his selfless nature – giving so much time and energy to his family, his genuine and friendly greeting when you saw him, his incredible work ethic, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. He was a proud American who loved his country and his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
